Players of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Discover a Touching Developer Tribute
November 19, 2023 By adminA user of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has posted a touching memorial to one of the game’s developers, concealed in the game’s recreation of Central Park. New York, as shown in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, is full of mysteries to be discovered, and Insomniac Games has made sure that this individual has their own piece of the city just waiting to be discovered.
Spider-Man 2 was just launched to widespread acclaim, improving on everything that made the first game great. The bond between Peter Parker and Miles Morales, as well as the advances added to the already great mobility from prior games, were commended in reviews for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. There’s a lot to enjoy about the game, but the introduction of tributes like this takes it to the next level.
The touching homage was discovered and uploaded on Reddit by user Toy-Funtime, who was first curious about its function in-game. Others in the conversation discovered that the mosaic in Central Park is a memorial to Insomniac Games creator Craig Goodman, who died in 2019. Goodman spent 15 years at Insomniac Games, where he worked on titles including Ratchet & Clank and the original Marvel’s Spider-Man. He is now renowned as the finest Easter egg in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
The game does an excellent job of honoring people who have contributed, both at Insomniac Games and at Marvel. In Spider-Man 2, there’s even a Chadwick Boseman Easter egg honoring the late actor’s ongoing contribution to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Black Panther. Both tributes are modest, but they contribute a lot for those who know what they’re referring to. It’s likely that Insomniac Games has buried even more that players have yet to find. If they exist, maybe gamers will find them and post them online so that the community can properly enjoy them.
Spider-Man 2 by Marvel isn’t simply about uplifting Easter eggs. There are also several that hint to the future of Marvel video games, such as one in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 that references the Fantastic Four. With Insomniac once again knocking it out of the park with the legendary web-slinger, and Marvel’s Wolverine on the way from the studio in the future, it seems natural that Marvel would entrust Insomniac Games with another of its most important franchises. Nothing has been formally verified, but it’s an intriguing idea to consider.
